The Beach House Pub

Kyle and I popped by to grab some afternoon snacks at the new Beach House yesterday. Decor is FAB! Food was good (I mean we are talking about pub food, what can you reeeeaally expect) but the service sucked and they didn't have their liquor license yet. You can see how happy Kyle was about his ice water with lemon. :)
Regardless of the mediocre service we WILL be back often they have TWO beach front patios with super comfy chairs!!!!

Vintage Books- Day Dreaming

Here are a few books I picked up from my parents' block garage sale this weekend!

I absolutely love Vintage books, especially this CLASSIC Better Homes & Gardens cook book!
I dream about all of the amazing recipes that have been made from it and the social times that go along with. Family dinners,ladies luncheons, afternoon tea desserts, fresh baked goodies for school, holiday meals !! Looks like it's from the '50's, so you can only imagine the amount of fun times it's seen and I'm sure even some not so fun ones ;)

Also the copy of Black Beauty with its dog chewed edges is from 1963, that's almost 50 years of being read, I wonder how many times a child has picked up this book and been completely enthralled by this gripping and absolutely classic story :)

Like many people, I'm sure,  I can not resist a good deal.  So when there is a "dollar days" or case lot sale at the local grocer I am ALL over it.  I live in a condo so my storage space for some of these items is limited but I keep most of these things in the cupboard on a regular basis. 

I find this list is also helpful for those people who tend to OVER buy things at their case lot sales...  Some things just never get used and go stale before they can be used if you purchase too many.  Try to keep quantities down so that you don't end up with enough to feed 4 families through a natural disaster. 

The website The Pioneer Woman is one of my favourites!  I've tried numerous recipes from her and they are ALWAYS delicious.  Her kitchen is absolutely fabulous, the layout, her countertop surfaces, cabinetry materials all of it.  If I could morph in to her for awhile I would definitely try it out!  To cook in her kitchen with her would be a dream for me! 

Here is her list of essentail items to have in your pantry, fridge and freezer so that you can make almost any meal anytime and always have the ingredients for mouth watering tantalizing menu items!
